Rosemary Infused Irish Maid - Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a Wild twist on an Irish-American classic.

Whether you’re Irish or not, we can all appreciate the myth of St. Patrick, who is believed to have banished all snakes from Ireland, resurrected as many as 33 people and, of course, used the 3 leaf clover as a symbol to spread the word about the holy trinity.

Most St. Patty’s Day celebrations include Irish staples like soda bread, Guinness beef pie, cabbage and potatoes and plenty of Guinness.

For all of my Wildatarians out there, I want to suggest a celebratory libation that honors the day while maintaining balance and Wildatarian principles.

I present you with my Wildatarian Irish Maid!

Why It’s Wild:

The Irish Maid is an Irish-American classic traditionally made with whiskey, cucumber and simple syrup. My twist replaces the simple syrup with diluted honey and introduces Wild-Lytes and rosemary to the mix.

Adding Wild-Lytes provides a mineral boost and nitric oxide for vascular support, helping to keep the body hydrated and oxygenated. Rosemary contains rosmarinic acid, an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant agent that may help calm oxidative stress in the body.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp elderflower cordial or liqueur
  • 3 tbsp fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 shot Jameson Irish whiskey
  • 1 tbsp honey diluted in 3 tbsp of water
  • 1 scoop Wild-Lytes
  • 4 cucumber slices
  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary

To Make:

Add cucumber slices and ⅓ cup of ice to a shaker. Using a cocktail spoon, muddle cucumbers in ice until soft. Add all liquid ingredients and Wild-Lytes to shaker and shake until smooth and thoroughly combined. Pour into a cocktail glass, reserving cucumbers and ice. Dress with a sprig of rosemary.

Serves 1 - simply double or triple the recipe to make more!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
