I have taken a deep look into perception over the last 24hours. Last night I drove my daughter into the mountains of West Virginia for a ski weekend with friends. By the time we reached West Virginia, it was dark and it started sleeting. Visibility was very bleak on HW 93. It was a tense drive but we arrived safely. Today as I was driving back, I was taken aback by how steep the roads were and how difficult the driving was. I was actually scared ( I don’t like heights) and I was at the top of mountains on steep winding roads. Last night my limited vision gave me a sense of comfort I don’t think I would have had if I had known how steep and narrow the roads were. My perception kept my fear in check. The psychology of perception is powerful.
