What Your Sweat Is Telling You

Sweat. We all do it and, for the most part, we all try to hide it!

My advice: learn to love your sweat— it’s actually a fabulous communicator that can tell you a lot about your general state of health, from your basic state of hydration to the efficacy of your liver and lymphatic function.

As Wildatarians, we can’t be afraid to *really, truly & deeply* know our bodies. They are the headquarters and indexes of our self-knowledge, and the information portals through which we understand the world. For instance, when I come back from a run, I always have a little taste of my sweat to see if it’s salty or not. Using this simple test to check in with myself, I have a consistent, baseline understanding of my body’s state of mineralization.

Because I put such an emphasis on hydration and key nutrients in my diet— using my own specially formulated electrolyte powder, Wild-Lytes™, to achieve a healthy balance— my sweat is always clean-smelling and salty. And that’s the way I like to keep it!

Here are a few things that your sweat can tell you:

Red flags:

-Sweat that doesn’t taste salty— this can be a sign of demineralization and poor electrolyte balance; you may lack the sodium and potassium your body needs for proper cellular communication and other metabolic functions.

-A garlicky or spicy smelling sweat— As a general rule, fresh sweat should not smell (sweaty socks that have been left in the laundry basket for a few days are another story…). If your sweat has a strong spice or food-related scent to it, you may have difficulty with sulfur metabolism–those foods that your body struggles to digest will show up as odors.

-Musky, hormonal-smelling sweat— If your sweat has a distinctive musky scent, it could be a sign of poor liver detoxification and an indication of hormonal imbalance.

A few helpful tips for happy sweat:

-Use Aztec Secret clay mask (available at Whole Foods, Target and Amazon) as a foot soak— this can pull toxins from the liver.

-Queen of Thrones castor oil pack: this organic castor oil treatment helps to reduce inflammation and extract liver toxins, which can help with hormonal imbalance and resultant odors. (It’s also a great investment if you suffer from constipation; another sign of impaired detoxification).

-Last, but not least, try Wild-Lytes™, my food-based electrolyte powder, designed to support detoxification, manage hydration & electrolyte balance, and help your body maintain proper mineralization for (salty!), happy-smelling sweat.

What makes Wild-Lytes™ a powerhouse supplement is the synergetic effects of its cornerstone ingredients: watermelon, cilantro and Himalayan sea salt. Each element is powerful on its own, but transformed in union, supporting cellular communication for optimal results.

  • Mineral-rich Himalayan sea salt contains the natural electrolytes our body depletes through exercise, illness, and our everyday stress response.
  • Cilantro supports oxygenation of the blood and is a natural liver detoxifier, helping to alleviate adrenal fatigue and unburden our overtaxed immune systems.
  • Watermelon contains nitric oxide—vital for cardiovascular function—and is rich in vitamins A, B6, and C, potassium, magnesium and l-arginine—an amino acid that manages blood supply to the muscles and can relieve muscle cramping and fatigue.

Because of its gentle, organic formula, you can enjoy Wild-Lytes™ as frequently as you wish without worrying about harmful additives like artificial sweeteners and dyes or digestive side-effects like constipation that come with standard electrolyte supplements.

Designed to be added to your daily water intake, Wild-Lytes™ has a refreshing, light taste and is the perfect addition to homemade popsicles and cocktails, can be stirred into savory dishes, and— my favorite part— added to your nightly bath for a detoxifying, mineralizing soak.

Sourced from pure ingredients, versatile and easily assimilated, Wild-Lytes™ goes beyond the scope of a simple electrolyte formula to target the effects of daily stress, inflammation, adrenal fatigue and immune disruption at a cellular level, providing a foundation for whole-body health in every glass.

Much more than an electrolyte powder, Wild-Lytes™ is electrolyte POWER.
